The parable of the Good Samaritan gets talked about a lot.

Jesus used this parable to answer the question, who is my neighbor. He tells us that everyone is our neighbor, even strangers.

But there’s something more. The Good Samaritan didn’t just do a good deed. He bandaged the wounds of an injured person. Then he took him to an inn and paid for his care. And he promised to come back and pay more if it was needed.

The Good Samaritan paid for a stranger’s health care.

Jesus praised these acts and commanded us to, “Go and do likewise.” (Luke 10:37b)

That command wasn’t just for those who were listening; it’s a command each of us who claim the mantle of Christ must follow.
