New resource: gun violence prevention cheat sheet

Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day. If you haven’t already, check out our post on the #WearOrange campaign.

Gun violence can be a divisive and difficult issue in many communities, especially for faith leaders. If you’re not sure how to even begin addressing this issue, check out the Gun Violence Prevention Cheat Sheet. This is a brand new resource created by the Rev. Lindsey Long Joyce, a United Methodist pastor.

The resource offers guidance specifically for faith leaders on how to begin or continue engaging the issue of guns and gun violence in a congregational context. Rev. Joyce serves churches in Chicago, where a high rate of gun violence is accompanied by a history of both deeply engaged and disengaged faith communities and leaders. Rev. Joyce offers insight from her work with the Urban Strategy Network of the Northern Illinois Conference and other coalitions.

Make sure to check out our National Gun Violence Awareness Day article for more ways to engage your communities around gun violence prevention.
