Only a week left to get health insurance

The deadline for those who get their health insurance in state-based and federally-run marketplaces is a week from today, Friday, Dec. 15, 2017.

Graphic with sand hourglass reads: "Get America Covered. December 15 is your last chance to get covered at healthcare.gov."

Deadline: Dec. 15

The holidays are quickly approaching, but the last day to enroll for health insurance is coming even faster.

If you buy health insurance through the federal exchange and many of the state-based exchanges, the last day to enroll is Friday, Dec. 15, 2017.

Hold off on the decorating, shopping and wrapping gifts. Health insurance for 2018 could be the best gift under the tree. Don’t wait until the last minute. High demand could jam telephone lines and crash websites. It’s best not to wait.

Affordable

Plans are affordable. And if you meet specific criteria, you may receive significant subsidies.

One nonprofit agency shared this story.

“Yesterday one of our navigators enrolled a low-income man with stage 4 cancer into a qualified health plan for $0 a month. Last week I received a voicemail message from a woman who lost her husband in a car accident and consequently lost her health insurance. She enrolled in a plan for $35 a month. We are helping people in need every day.”
