Church and Society Conference Leader Gathering

Leaders from annual conferences around the connection will gather at Drew University Oct. 1-4, 2018.


What

Our church and world are facing challenging days. It is critical that our church maintain its mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. So, we will gather Church and Society leaders to:

  1. Renew ourselves in our world transforming mission.
  2. Learn from the successes and challenges of others.
  3. Connect conference leaders with national and global challenges currently being addressed by Church and Society staff.
  4. Imagine together where Church and Society staff can be present in your conferences.
  5. How our resources can support your priorities in 2019-2020.

We will meet in conjunction with the Tipple-Vosburgh Lecture Series. Participants will be able to join in all the lectures, music and worship of the series. Scheduled keynote speakers include Brian McLaren and Bishop Karen Oliveto.

Who

Church and Society chairs and annual conference staff assigned to conference Church and Society committees are invited to attend the Church and Society Conference Leader Gathering.

Where

Meeting: Drew University, Madison, New Jersey.
Hotel: Madison Hotel, Morristown, New Jersey. (Please note: The Madison Hotel is in Morristown, not Madison.)
Suggested airport: Newark Liberty International (EWR)

When

Oct. 1-4, 2018

Please plan on arriving to the hotel by 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1 for dinner and departing on Thursday, Oct. 4 after 2 p.m.

Cost

  • First participant from an annual conference
    • Shared room: $155.
    • Private room: $415.
  • Second participant from an annual conference
    • Shared room: $305.
    • Private room: $600.

Church and Society is subsidizing the costs of the event. We want to see as many annual conferences represented as possible, so have more heavily subsidized the first attendee from a conference.

The registration includes:

  • Housing.
  • Programming.
  • Breakfast and lunch Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Dinner on Monday and Tuesday.

Attendees are responsible for all their own transportation costs, including to and from the airport, and dinner Wednesday night.

Registration

Registration will close Sept. 12 or when we have received 36 registrations, whichever happens first. EACH REGISTRANT MUST COMPLETE SEPARATE REGISTRATIONS.
