Becoming a sanctuary church: An interview with the Rev. Robin Hynicka
In November, 2016, with the support of community partners, Arch Street UMC opened a space for Javier Flores Garcia to live in sanctuary at the church. Javier — a 40-year-old husband and father of three U.S. citizen children — has been living, working and raising his family in the U.S. since 1997. In November he received a deportation order even though his immigration case is pending.

Solidarity with Cuba: An Interfaith Prayer Vigil
Church and Society joins IFCO/Pastors for Peace, Cuba Council of Churches, Martin Luther King Center in Havana, National Network on Cuba, United Church of Christ, Justice and Local Church Ministries, Global Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and United Church of Christ in prayer, reflection, and advocacy for the removal of Cuba from the state sponsors of terrorism list, and the cessation of the US blockade on Cuba.
