Apply today: Healthy masculinity training

Church and Society, the Illinois Great Rivers Annual Conference Board of Church and Society, and the Healthy Masculinities Action Project have teamed up to put on a training October 23-26, 2017.

Healthy Masculinity Training

In a first-of-its-kind training, the Healthy Masculinities Action Project is teaming up with Church and Society and the Illinois Great Rivers Annual Conference Board of Church and Society.

HMAP is a national, grassroots movement to eradicate the harmful expectations and stereotypes our society teaches boys about what it means to be a man. HMAP is a nationally recognized movement that has largely focused on college campuses. The program aims to build a new generation of male leaders who will model strength without violence and serve as positive change makers in society — taking their communities from awareness to action.

The workshop will be held October 23-26, 2017 at Two Rivers United Methodist Church in Rock Island, Illinois.

Equipping local leaders

Attendees of the training will learn how to teach others about healthy masculinity from a biblical perspective. Newly trained leaders will be given solid techniques to bring these concepts back to their local congregations. After attending the training, there will be a follow-up community that forms for mutual support and accountability as the movement for healthy masculinity grows.
