The Band of Brothers and Sisters
This mural is located right before we enter into the worship hall of the First United Methodist Church in Flushing, NY. The images within the cross represent a campaign we began last year called the ‘Band of Brothers & Sisters.’ The ‘bands’ inspiration and heart came from the Gospel story of the four friends bringing a paralyzed person to Jesus Christ. Seeing the faith of the four friends, Jesus forgives the friend’s sins (Mark 2:5).

Reflections on Transfiguration
As the Christian cycle moves from the winter light of Epiphany toward the spring light of Lent days grow longer and nights shorter. In this gradual movement the signs of light are varied in their beauty and clarity. Some light glimmers like the new fake candles that are a little off color. Some twilight is shrouded in wind and rain on a wet hike in early spring. Or some signs are the fleeting warmth in the heart.

Meet our Church and Society Fellows
We are happy to welcome our second cohort of Church and Society Fellows! Church and Society Fellows have the opportunity to work with the staff of Church and Society full-time on a project. Fellows are required to do weekly reading, check-ins and blogging to reflect on their experience of living faith. Another aspect of this program is living in community. The Church and Society Fellows program is designed to encourage spiritual and professional development.
