The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act (H.R. 22) is a legislative proposal introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives during the 119th Session of Congress. The bill aims to amend the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 by imposing stricter voter registration requirements, specifically mandating documentary proof of U.S. citizenship for individuals registering to vote in federal elections.

Key Provisions of the SAVE Act

Documentary Proof of Citizenship: All individuals seeking to register or update their voter registration would be required to provide specific documents, such as a passport or birth certificate, to verify their citizenship status. Brookings

In-Person Registration Requirement: The act necessitates that these documents be presented in person, effectively eliminating the feasibility of online or mail-in voter registration methods. Center for American Progress

State Access to Federal Immigration Data: States would be granted increased access to federal immigration databases to cross-reference and verify the citizenship status of voter registration applicants. NPR

Take Action

Voting is not just a civic duty—it is a sacred act of co-creating a just and equitable society. The SAVE Act contradicts our moral values, undermines access to the ballot, and targets the very people God calls us to accompany and protect.
