Take Action: Block Weapons Sales Fueling Conflict in the Middle East
We have an opportunity to call attention to Israel’s egregious violations of international law and targeting of civilians.

Urgent action is needed to support an effort from Senator Bernie Sanders and Representatives Rashida Tlaib and Pramila Jayapal who have filed Joint Resolutions of Disapproval (JRDs) that would block offensive U.S. weapons to Israel. Since October 2023, Israeli has continued to target civilians in Gaza and Lebanon – with the help of U.S. weapons.
This is an important chance to call on your Senators and Representatives to block offensive weapons that Israel has used that have been implicated in civilian deaths.
For decades, the United Methodist Church has condemned territorial expansion and aggression, supported justice for refugees, and advocated for ceasing arms sales to the Middle East. “We seek for all people in the Middle East region an end to military occupation, freedom from violence, and full respect for the human rights of all under international law.” The resolution also urges the U.S. government to “end all military aid to the region” (2020/2024 Book of Resolutions #4108: Opposition to Israeli Settlements in Palestinian Land).
Living into our mission of transforming the world means prioritizing durable solutions to root causes of conflict instead of militarized solutions that engender further violence. Now is the time for us to stand in our faith witness and raise our voices for peace.
Contact your Senators and Representatives today and ask them to support the Joint Resolutions of Disapproval as well as oppose any further arms sales that would escalate this conflict.
