Support the Walk to Emmaus at All Levels of the Church

2016 Book of Resolutions, #2102

Whereas, the Walk to Emmaus is given to us from the Upper Room; and

Whereas, this ministry brings a spiritual awareness of Jesus Christ to all adults in a unique, loving, patient, and kind way; and Whereas, we rejoice in the truth which is revealed in this effort;

and Whereas, this ministry involves our members in a very important ministry; and

Whereas, this ministry enables members to return to their local churches and be present and future leaders of the church,

Therefore, be it resolved, that General Conference:

urges all annual conferences to increase their efforts and resources in the Walk to Emmaus so that the adults of our churches know and are in touch with Christ;
encourages churches to enlist and involve their adult members, men and women, in the life and work of the Walk to Emmaus so that they may return and be leaders within their own congregations; and
encourages the General Board of Discipleship and Upper Room ministries to continue their emphasis on Walk to Emmaus.
