Church and Society Announces 2024 Online Grant Award Process Is Now Open
GBCS is now accepting applications for the 2024 grant funding cycle beginning today, September 20, 2024. The deadline to submit your grant application is October 31, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. EDT.
The General Board of Church and Society (GBCS) awards grants to United Methodist congregations and groups related to The United Methodist Church through Peace with Justice programs, the Ethnic Local Church and Human Relations Day.
To apply for grants, applicants must complete forms on the GBCS online system. Applications considered for funding will have the online form and all required documents submitted by October 31, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. EDT. Grant award notifications are planned for late November, 2024.
Church and Society Provides Grant Awards In Three Categories
Peace with Justice Grants support programs and projects that witness to God’s demands for a faithful, just, disarmed, and secure world.
Ethnic Local Church Grants focus on the self-identified needs of ethnic local churches and persons as they address one or more chronic social issues or concerns.
Human Relations Day Grants support advocacy and community engagement aimed at uplifting the right of all God’s children to realize their potential in right relationship with one another.
Here’s What To Expect When Applying For Church and Society Grants
Applicants are required to submit:
• Program or project summaries
• Budget and supporting documentation including no fewer than two references
• A letter from the Resident Bishop

Grant awards range from $2000 - $5000. None of the money can be used to fund individual scholarships, salaries, purchases of equipment, purely administrative costs, or direct delivery of services.
