On Sunday, April 17, 2016, Rev. Dr. Susan Henry-Crowe, General Secretary of the General Board of Church and Society of The United Methodist Church, will be the preacher of the day alongside The Rev. Canon Gina Gilland Campbell, at Washington National Cathedral. Rev. Canon Campbell is the first United Methodist pastor to be appointed to the Washington National Cathedral, owned and operated by the Episcopal Church (USA.).
Both clergywomen are elders of The United Methodist Church. Rev. Dr. Henry-Crowe is an elder of the South Carolina Annual Conference and Rev. Canon Campbell is a member of the Southwest Texas Annual Conference. Rev. Dr. Henry-Crowe is the Dean Emeritus of the Chapel of Religious Life at Emory University, having served there for 22 years.
As Susan Henry-Crowe comments on her invitation to preach on the final service of Rev. Canon Campbell’s tenure at the Cathedral, “It’s an honor to be invited to preach for the service upon Rev. Canon Campbell’s departure at the Washington Cathedral, where she, as a United Methodist, has served as a leader committed to ecumenical and interfaith relations.”
The service begins at 11:15 a.m. in the Nave of the Cathedral. Holy Eucharist will be served.
