Part-time Consultant for the United Methodist Global AIDS Committee
This position provides administrative and programmatic support to the United Methodist Global AIDS Committee (UMGAC), an inter-agency committee, whose focus is to extend education and advocacy to United Methodists and others on addressing the HIV & AIDS health crisis in the United States and around the globe.
The United Methodist Global AIDS Committee is seeking a part time consultant.
This position provides administrative and programmatic support to the United Methodist Global AIDS Committee (UMGAC), an inter-agency committee, whose focus is to extend education and advocacy to United Methodists and others on addressing the HIV & AIDS health crisis in the United States and around the globe.
Essential Responsibilities include:
- Works in collaboration with members of UMGAC on developing initiatives that provide educational information about HIV & AIDS and advocacy information such as legislative efforts and stigma reduction.
- Writes the bi-monthly UMGAC newsletter in coordination with the General Board of Church & Society (GBCS). Newsletter is distributed to over 2,000 AIDS Ambassadors.
- Manages the UMGAC web page and Facebook page.
- Provides financial reports and budgets to the Committee in collaboration with staff at GBCS.
- Approves and submits expense reports to GBCS for UMGAC member expenses and Consultant expenses
- Works cooperatively with UMGAC Chair on UMGAC matters including caring for details for UMGAC meetings: date setting, meeting logistics and agenda development.
- Cares for related UMGAC correspondence.
- Oversees the design and implementation of special UMGAC biennial conferences.
- Attends and participates in UMGAC committee meetings.
- Writes grant proposals for UMGAC’s ongoing ministries.
Required qualifications include:
- Organizational, strategic thinking,
- Verbal communication and writing skills;
- Web design and social media expertise;
- Knowledge of The United Methodist Church
- Passion for HIV and AIDS ministries.
