Abolition of Torture
Torture in any form, whether psychological or physical, is dehumanizing to the victim and to the perpetrator. For the victim, the mental and physical scars can last a lifetime.
The psychological effects can include insomnia, nightmares, memory loss, depression and post traumatic stress disorder. For the perpetrator, there is a great deal of stress and a general decline in the morals and ethics of a person who inflicts pain on another.
