Members and officers of Black Methodists for Church Renewal Virginia Chapter (BMCR VA) met last month for their annual banquet, worship service and business meeting at the St. James United Methodist Church, Hampton, VA.

Held during the 2022 VA Annual Conference in Hampton, VA, the worship service was led by The Rev. Dr. Sherry Daniels with The Rev. Dr. Clarence Brown, who provided a spirited sermon for the evening. After worship and dinner, The Reverend Debra A. Slaughter, BMCR VA President, facilitated the annual business meeting honoring 2022 Clergy retirees (See list here), introducing officers, presenting business reports and providing updates on partnership initiatives.

“The Virginia Chapter of the BMCR is currently focused on the health, healing and history of the African American community,” said Rev. Slaughter. “We endeavor to improve our physical, spiritual, mental, financial and emotional health individually and collectively, as these are the areas that lead to healing.”

Upcoming events for the Fall of 2022 include the Southeast Jurisdictional BMCR in-person meeting at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Richmond VA set for October 13 -15, 2022. For more details of this event and other upcoming BMCR VA Fall events, click here.
