Applications now being accepted for More to Migration

Church and Society will host its fourth annual called seminar More to Migration Nov. 4-9, 2019, in El Salvador. Apply today. Applications close June 28.

More to Migration

More to Migration will explore the root causes of migration with a particular focus on El Salvador. It will be an opportunity to learn from indigenous leaders, faith leaders and community leaders the lived reality in the country.

There will be two components to the More to Migration called seminar. The first part will be a five-part webinar component facilitated by Aimee Hong, the Director of UM Seminar Program. The immersion will be facilitated by professor Joseph Cistone, the chief executive officer of International Partners in Mission and their partner leaders in El Salvador.

The Seminar Program is excited to be in partnership with International Partners in Mission for More to Migration. IPM was founded in 1974 with an emphasis that mission should be a two-way street that creates partnerships. Their mission is to work across borders of faith, culture and economic circumstance to create partnerships that build justice, peace and hope.

More to Migration will explore:

  • The social and political realities of migration to host countries and also to the home country.
  • The role of U.S. foreign policy (both past and present) that plays in the role migration.
  • The theological implications of migration.
