Statement on Black Lives Matter signs burned at D.C. churches

General Secretary calls racism antithetical to the Christian Gospel.

UM building sign - no man can serve two masters. you cannot serve white supremacy and god

The events this weekend in Washington, D.C. remind us that violence, hatred and racism are antithetical to the Christian Gospel.

Acts of white supremacy and hate are sacrilegious and abhorrent to human dignity.

These acts are an affront to all people of faith. Houses of worship are sacred spaces.

In this season of love and light, may we continue to work for peace and justice. As Bishop LaTrelle Easterling stated, may our words move us to be united in peaceful action.
